KL Rahul’s Form Will Decide Who Will Open With Rohit Sharma In T20Is, Says Deep Dasgupta Former Indian wicketkeeper Deep Dasgupta said that KL Rahul’s form will determine who will open the batting alongside the swashbuckling opener of India - Rohit Sharma in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2021, which will be played in the UAE and Oman from October 17 as well. Image source by twitter Indian captain Virat Kohli has also expressed his desire to open the batting along with Rohit Sharma in shortest format when he promoted himself at top of the order in the fifth T20I match against England at home earlier this year. Notably, he also opened the batting with Devdutt Padikkal while playing for Royal Challegers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League 2021 before it got suspended. “Well, it’s possible, and Virat also mentioned during the last series, that he’s seriously thinking about opening with Rohit, he might, or whatever he said. But I don’t know whether it’s the right way to go about it. A lot will depend on how KL Rahul’s form is,” Deep Dasgupta said in his latest YouTube video. “If KL Rahul is batting the way he was a year ago then I don’t see any reason why Virat should open. Then Rohit and KL can open, and Virat can come at three… I won’t say Virat and Rohit ‘will’ open at this point in time, I will say that option is still open,” he again shared. On the other hand, KL Rahul’s strike rate has been a subject of debate for the cricket experts and others ever since he took over the captaincy of Punjab Kings in the cash-rich Indian Premier League. Notably, he has been batting at a below strike rate than what he used to do earlier as well.
