  1. Decision on Australia players participating in IPL 2021 can wait - CA chief Cricket Australia's chief executive Nick Hockley has said that the governing body is yet to take a call about their players joining their respective IPL franchises again when the tournament resumes in the UAE during September-October window. Hockley again said that the Australian players and support staff were relieved to return home from the Maldives where they were staying following the cancellation of the IPL 2021. Nearly 40 Australians, including players, coaches, officials and commentators were part of the IPL which was halted on May 4 after Covid-19 started affecting players inside the bio-bubble. "Once we get back together as a group that (IPL) is something we'll obviously need to discuss," Hockley was quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo. "Our players returning from the IPL have only today come out of quarantine, so our first priority is to make sure they are reunited with their families. We have a tour to prepare for in the West Indies." While Australia have a few international commitments now, Hockley said that the players will regroup at the National Cricket Centre (in Brisbane) in a couple of weeks before their West Indies tour begins as well. Notably, Australia are scheduled to travel to the West Indies in July whereas they will take on Bangladesh for a bilateral series after that. On the other hand, the IPL will resume in the UAE in September-October when Australia have no other international series as well. However, staying in bio-bubbles for one after another series could affect players' mental health too.
