Conclusions I Collected information from a variety of sources regarding the composition of core bioinformatics curricula There is an overwhelming consensus that the next generation of Bioinformaticians must be trained from scratch as Biologist+Computer Scientist challenging the orthogonal traditional view.

    36. Conclusions (cont) This poses as much a pedagogical and logistic challenge as a cultural one: CS people tend to disregard the non-numerary aspects of biology Biology people tend to shy away from mathematical thinking Must send students to the wet lab work bench and to rigorous CS courses
