  2. SALES Sales are vital functions in every business. Most businesses have targets and sales numbers they would like to meet. Meeting these targets is the responsibility of the sales staff or sales teams. Sales functions: Organising sales promotions Responding to customer enquiries Selling the products or service to customers, either over the telephone or face to face. Preparing quotations or estimates for customers Providing technical advice
  3. Distribution Distribution is all about deliveries. The distribution function plans the vehicle routs to avoid back-tracking – this keeps fuel costs down and saves time. Distribution has the job of delivering your goods to you. Ensures all goods are appropriately packed, store and labelled before dispatch. Checking vehicle loads are safe and secure. Ensuring goods are dispatched at the right time. Planning and scheduling vehicle routs.
  4. PURCHASING All business need to buy a wide variety of items on a routine basis. Purchasing staff are responsible for ensuring that the company pays a competitive price for its supplies. In a large organisation, buying consumable items like paper is undertaken by specialists buyers. Purchasing staff may take out contacts with regular suppliers and ensure that the terms of the contracts are met in relation to delivery, cost, quantity and quality. Retail buyers must also take account of customer needs alternative sources of supply, current fashions and trends as well, selling price to customer. Purchasing functions. Routine administrative tasks include opening the post, preparing documents and sending emails. Others require more creativity and flexibility, such as arranging travel and important events. Senior administrators may also monitor budgets and interview new staff for their departments.

    Most administrators also deal with external customers, who judge the business on the service they receive. Poor or sloppy administration can be disastrous for a company's reputation. A lost order, badly typed letter, important message not passed on or wrong date scheduled for a meeting can cause problems and the company may lose customers. Efficient administration means that everything runs smoothly and managers can concentrate on the task of running the business.

Businesses have customer service departments to allow customers to get advice or reply to complaints. The customer service department are friendly and act as nice as possible to try and get the sale
