  1. What is AODA compliance requirement? What is the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA)? AODA was formed in 2005 with the sole objective of providing full rights to disabled Ontarian citizens in line with AODA compliance. There are specific rules and penalties covered in this act that makes it disabled-friendly. It identifies, removes and prevents barriers that obstruct disabled citizens of Ontario. Its vision is to make Ontario fully accessible by 2025. The significance of AODA compliance standards: AODA compliance standards are prepared to keep in perspective the accessibility aspect. It is referred to as a set of specific laws that must be followed by public organizations, NGOs and government organizations. The core aim of these standards is to make the website, application or product fully accessible. Following are the five AODA standards:

Strategic usage of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (AODA): Following are a few important accessibility considerations that need to be addressed by organizations for being aligned with AODA compliance: Links and web pages should have self-explanatory titles Resizing text as and when required The keyboard should be used for working out website functions Text alternatives should be there on the website’s non-text elements, such as images The content meaning should be properly understood and should not be dependent on factors such as object size, perceiving colors, sounds etc. 2. AODA compliance training: If organizations need to be AODA compliant then they have to provide specialized AODA compliance based training to their contractors, volunteers, directors and staff to make sure that these individuals can easily comply with AODA. Section 7 of the law outlines AODA compliance training. It must be conducted as early as possible and an organized record of the training activities must be duly kept. If the accessible policies of an organization change, then the training needs can be updated. An understanding of the Ontario Human Rights Code should also be included in the training and how disabled people are protected from discrimination should also be covered.
