Our Mission • Create an open atmosphere in an international, multicultural environment that will stimulate students to get the best out of themselves. • Stimulate intellectual curiosity, critical thinking and creativity, needed for the challenges they face in their future career • Deliver strong candidates to the international job market through academic, professional and technical training.

  4. History VIU was established in 1998 to provide quality higher education at an affordable price

We received permission to use the name Virginia International University and started an MBA program on December 23, 1998 • VIU was incorporated as a non-profit corporation on June 6, 1999 • We received a non-profit certification as a 501(c)(3) from the US Internal Revenue Service on November 19, 1999.

  6. The Council of Higher Education of the Commonwealth of Virginia gave us degree-granting authority for MBA on May 25, 2000. • We received authority to issue I-20 for F-1 and M–1 visas from the Immigration and Naturalization Service on April 25, 2000. • We have started our baccalaureate program in Computer Science and Business Management on October 18, 2000
