Passiv e news just text and video, nothing to interact with. Active news Kids play their own journalist. Immersive news ...where news 'happens' in world …. Not immersive not a surrounding that captivates the kid. With little to no filters Kids can’t filter the news.

News they care about ...can select what news they want to read... With little to no social elements Other than a (hardly visited) forum Social news ...can make their own and share the news.

  13. So, what does the ‘real’ reporter do? ...Translate interestingnewstolanguagekids understand, in five simple steps... 1. write the headline 2. (un)check the breakingnews indicator 3. choose relevant category codes (foreign, sports, etc) 4. give a location indicator 5. and click: done!

  14. What comes next? The mockup is ready; the look and feel is there... - not bad for two days work! ...now we need to put it online... - javascript galore - should keep us busy for a week or two ...and fill it with content - select and translate the news; fill the site with content - a great job for an intern!
