  3. About Thetha FM • In 1997, a group of young and enthusiastic youth came together to make a difference in their community. They saw radio as a tool to educate those around them, motivate people to change their situation and stimulate economic growth and community development. • after six years of organizing and negotiating, Thetha FM was granted a four-year broadcasting license in September 2003 by the Independent Communication Authority of South Africa [Icasa]. • On 15 November 2005, Thetha FM based at Isikhumbuzo Secondary school in Orange farm [City of JHB region G ] - Officially began broadcasting across the region on the frequency 100.6 Mhz

Areas of Broadcast • Although based in Orange Farm, Thetha FM reaches a much larger audience, with listeners in the following areas: Gauteng • Entire Vaal Triangle, Poortjie, Westonoria, Randfontien, Ennerdale, Lenasia, Eldorado Park, Other parts of Soweto, Other parts of Ekurhuleni North West • Caltonville, Potchefstroom, Fochville Free State • Sasolburg, Heilbron, Petrus Steyn, Villiers and Dennesville Mpumalanga • Grootvlei and Balfour

Listenership & Target Market • Thetha FM is the fastest growing community radio and second largest in Gauteng and fourth in the country with more than 240 000 listenership [Rams 2008] • LSM group: 2 – 7 - This means a huge possible market share Target Market • Our target market consists of all ages, but mostly young people who do not want to wait for change….they want to create change, therefore Thetha FM serves as a platform for them to achieve their goals.

Product Format • Broadcasting Languages: Zulu 30%, Sotho 30%, Other African Languages 30% and English 10% • Talk [60%]: Talks covers areas of health, development, social matters and religion – in general, anything which affects the community • Music [40%]: Music ranges from Jazz, R&NB, Hip –hop and Kwaito, with the provision that the lyrics are not offensive.

It also consists of traffic, sports, weather reports and newspaper review. • 09H05 – 12H00 • MALUTI MID-MORNING SHOW • The programme is focusing on issues that involve women and children, health and disability. • 12H00 – 15H00 • IMBIZO MID–DAY SHOW • It deals with various issues such as crime, economy & art. • 15H05 – 18H00 • MORETHETHO AFTERNOON DRIVE • This is the youth driven programme that deals mainly with the issues that affects young people. • 18H00 – 21H00 • MAHLASEDI A LETSATSI • This is a multilingual Current Affair that focuses on local, regional and national it also focuses on community development and culture. • 21H00 – 00H00 • LOVE CASTLE • Lovers programme. • NB: Our sport day is on Monday & Friday from 18H00 to 19H00. • NB: News from 06h00, 07h00, 08h00 ,09h00, 13h00, 15h00, 16h00 and 17h00

Advertising Rate Optional adverting format • Rates quoted above excludes 16.5% agency commission • Language used are Zulu, Xhosa, English, Sipedi, Setswana and Tsonga • Preferred times are lode subject to a 20% additional fee on a preferred channel • Sponsorship rates only apply on News, Sport, Traffic report, Talk shows, Music Shows, Newspaper review and competition • Advertising material must be delivered produced seven days prior to the days of broadcast • Advertising must be in form of an audio CD or Live read. [Special deadline is available on request] • Cancellation of advertising shall be in a written letter and submitted to Thetha FM five days before the start of campaign.
