fired first
Fired First
  • Stop coming to work (3 days can do it, if you don’t call in or are unconscious.)
  • Come to work, but don’t do your job, take a little longer, but this will do it, too.
  • Don’t keep up with your job as duties and the nature of work and technology change. This takes longest, but I have seen this work, too.

  • Get in a shoving fight at work with fellow workers.
  • Threaten yourself or threaten others at work.
  • Lie on your time sheet
  • Piss off your supervisor and never apologize. Because you are after all a perfect human being, right?

  • Keep everything to yourself and don’t have a support network among your fellow workers.
  • Never call your Steward if you are staff bargaining.
  • Never call your Staff Senator if you are not bargaining.
  • Don’t bother to know what Weingarten Rights are.

Weingarten Rights
  • Rights are no good unless you know you got them.
  • You have the right to have a steward with you if you are being questioned about something that could lead to discipline.
  • What is discipline? Could lead to a reprimand that may or may not go into your personnel file or something more serious.

  • Your “professional development plan,” which you should write may be the most important document you write all year.
  • This can be used to keep you up to date in your current job or any job that you might do at the college in the future.
  • This is an educational institution and guess what; we do support education of our employees in many different ways.
