  2. Workshop Objectives The Big Goal Start a year-long process for community adoption of a sustainable financial model Tonight’s Goals Discuss the value and purposes of Kavana in our lives and the meaning of “cooperative” Discuss our feelings about the role of money in Jewish community

This Evening’s Schedule • 30 minutes: Presentation on (i) Kavana’s process for adopting a sustainable financial model and (ii) our current financial model • 45 minutes: Break-out groups discussing the value and purposes of Kavana in our lives, the meaning of “cooperative,” and the role of money in Kavana • 15 minutes: Reconvene as a community/ where we go from here

Kavana’s Process for Developing a Sustainable Financial Model(based on input from DZO Strategists, LLC) • 2010 State of the Union Workshop – Community discussion of value and purposes of Kavana in our lives • April 2010 – Appointment of team with 1-year charter to synthesize community input, study alternative financial models, and present recommendations • June 2010 Community Meeting – Interim report by team re: value and purposes of Kavana • November 2010 Community Meeting – Interim report by team on alternative financial models • 2011 State of the Union Workshop – Adoption of sustainable financial model that advances the value and purposes of Kavana

During the One-Year Process … We also will have: • Intimate forums in people’s homes to discuss the value and purposes of Kavana, what we mean by “cooperative,” and our feelings about money in a Jewish community • Learning opportunities about the role of money in Jewish community (historically, in Jewish texts, & today)

Recognition During the Past Year • One of “50 Most Vibrant Congregations in the U.S.” – Newsweek • “Best Adult Education Programs in Seattle” – JT News (Seattle’s Jewish press) • “Best Supplemental Children’s Education Programs in Seattle” – JT News • Metropolitan Credit Union Community Spirit Award Finalists – for our video about the CSA • $25,000 Family Education Grant from the Auerbach Foundation • Avi Chai Fellowship Award • Current finalist for Joshua Venture Fund Social Entrepreneurship Award
