Boot from a LiveCD. What is a LiveCD. Normally, OS is installed on the local disk and then will be loaded from harddisk. However, OS can also be directly put into memory and running from there without harddisk.

  1. Boot from a LiveCD

  2. What is a LiveCD Normally, OS is installed on the local disk and then will be loaded from harddisk. However, OS can also be directly put into memory and running from there without harddisk. LiveCD has everything an OS needed to run and when booting from a CD-ROM, the OS will be loaded from the CD and directly into memory.

  3. BIOS: Configure the Boot Sequence BIOS is where you can basically configure your hardware i.e.   CPU         Onboard clock         Disk etc. HOWTO 1. Press "F12" (computer-dependent) 2. Choose "System Setup" 3. Browse around and look for "Boot Sequence" 4. Press "ESC" to exit

Burn a LiveCD • Find a LiveCD image(.iso) and download it at http://mirror.clarkson.edu/distributions.html • Burn a LiveCD image into a blank CD/DVD         CD--- 700MBytes       DVD--- 4.7GBytes     (1G = 1024M) HOWTO 1. Physically put a blank CD/DVD into the burner 2. Find the disc image file(.iso) 3. Right click the disc image and click "Open with Brasero" 4. Select the disc image and Select the proper burner 5. Click the button "Burn"

  7. Run a LiveCD • Insert the LiveCD into DVD-ROM • Press the power button  Booting~~~~~~ It is just that simple!

  8. What can a LiveOS do? • No need to install an OS • No hurt to play • No worry to try new things Q&A Can you install software on it? Yes, but once poweroff, all are gone! Can you save your file? Save it on a usb or in the Internet, or it will also be gone Why? Because it boots from CD/DVD, but CD/DVD is unwritable.
