  1. Various materials that can be used for plumbing pipes Plumbing pipes are a very important and essential part of any household. Many materials are used to build various plumbing fittings. Stainless steel press fittings are very common these days. SS press fittings are said to be more durable and long-lasting than any other type of material. Various materials other than stainless steel plumbing fittings are- · PVC- PVC is a hard plastic that can be worked with more easily and is lighter than conventional galvanized steel. Long or short drain pipes made of affordable material can have their joints bonded together using solvents. Just be aware that PVC should not be used for hot water · ABS- ABS, which is black and somewhat less stiff than PVC, resembles PVC in appearance and serves the same functions in a plumbing system. In freezing temperatures and high-pressure applications, it is a little bit more resilient than PVC, although it deteriorates in direct sunshine · Iron pipes- Older homes typically have these latter two types of plumbing pipes, which are not typically built today. Galvanized and cast iron supply lines are typically swapped out for PEX or copper ones in retrofit projects. Then, cast iron and galvanized drain pipes can be retrofitted with PVC and ABS. However, these days SS plumbing fittings are used because they offer more durability and strength and sustain for a longer period. · Maintain the waste disposal- Make a reminder to only dispose of little food scraps in the sink; avoid doing so with non-food things like animal bones, fruit pits, or fibrous maize husks. Cooking oil and grease should be avoided at all costs as they will eventually harden into a gelatinous mass. · Invest in the appropriate plungers- Keep a traditional cup plunger close by in case the sink backs up, as well as a flange plunger on hand for clogged toilets.
