Nowadays, ss pipe fittings are being used by people. But PVC is something that has been used forever. SS pipes are said to be more durable and strong. Let’s see the difference between the two. Stainless steel V/S PVC Temperature tolerance- PVC has lower maximum and minimum service temperature ratings for temperature-based applications than stainless steel. PVC pipe can withstand temperatures of up to 140°F before starting to soften. Stainless steel pipes' precise temperature range can vary depending on the grade and composition of the metal, although it is typically rated to resist temperatures of at least 450°F. Stainless steel might be a better option than PVC in plumbing situations when heated fluids are anticipated. PVC has a minimum service temperature of 32°F when taking into account low-temperature situations. PVC pipe has a lower stress tolerance at lower temperatures and becomes more brittle and vulnerable to impact cracking. Temperatures below 32°F are not advised for PVC pipe due to risks of bursting or fracture. Contrarily, because stainless steel is an alloy of metals, it is not affected by these factors. Stainless steel is appropriate for handling fluids with extremely low freezing points since it has a suggested minimum service temperature of –60°F.
