Certified Public Procurement Officer (CPPO) •Supervisors of buyers OR •Managers of public procurement function •First certification issued in 1964 Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB) •Perform public purchasing functions (buyers) •Non-managerial or supervisory •First certificate (PPB certificate program) issued in 1979 •First CPPB certification issued in 1991

CPPO Eligibility Schedules – thru 2013 •A: CPPB Certified 144 hours; 8 years total experience; 6 years public; 3 years supervisory/management function •B: Bachelor’s Degree 48 hours; 3 years total experience; 2 years public; 2 years supervisory/management function •C: Master’s or Doctorate Degree 24 hours; 3 years total experience; 2 years public; 2 years supervisory/management function

  4. CPPB Eligibility Schedules – thru 2013 •A: High School/GED 96 hours; 5 years total exp; 3 years public •B: Associate’s Degree 96 hours; 4 years total exp; 3 years public •C: Bachelor’s Degree 48 hours; 2 years public exp •D: Master’s or Doctorate 24 hours; 2 years public exp

  5. New Eligibility Requirements • Degree Required • College Level Coursework Preferred • Coursework, Training & Experience completed within 10 years of application • New “instructor-led” requirement for all training

  6. CPPO Eligibility – effective 1/1/2014 • Bachelor’s Degree • 3 credit hours of public procurement coursework or 6 credit hours of procurement-related coursework AND 72 contact hours procurement training ,or 174 contact hours of procurement training • 5 years of public procurement experience; 3 years of which are management/supervisory

  7. CPPB Eligibility – effective 1/1/2014 • Associate’s Degree • 3 credit hours of public procurement coursework or 6 credit hours of procurement-related coursework AND 56 contact hours procurement training, or 158 contact hours of procurement training • 3 years of public procurement experience

Window of Opportunity… •Apply by December 31, 2013 – application will be considered under CURRENT eligibility requirements •Apply January 1, 2014 or after – application will be considered under NEW eligibility requirements •KEEP YOUR CPPO/CPPB CURRENT - DO NOT LET YOUR CERTIFICATION EXPIRE!!! – you may not be able to earn it back…
