  5. Patriarch • Abraham • Isaac • Jacob has name change to Israel • Israel has 12 sons the fathers of the tribes • Joseph has favor • The family is brought to Egypt

  6. Exodus • Exodus- Moses leads the people out of Egypt • Moses- Receives the 10 Commandments • Israel- Wandered in the wilderness 40 years

  7. Conquest • Joshua leads to people into Canaan • No one took over as the next leader

  8. Judges • Every man did what was right in his own eyes • Begins a cycle of sin • Oppression by foreign nations • Repentance • Deliverance • Judges of Israel • Samuel was last Judge • People want a King

  13. Northern Kingdom • 10 Tribes in Rebellion against David • Called Israel • Capital Samaria • First King Jeroboam • 18 Kings and I Queen • All 19 rulers were ungodly • Final King Hoshea • Carried captive by Assyria • No mass return from captivity

  14. Southern Kingdom • 2 Tribes loyal to David • Called Judah • Capital Jerusalem • 1st King Rhoboam • 20 Kings • Multiple rivals 8 rulers were godly • Final King Zedekiah • Carried captive by Babylon • Three returns from captivity
