  4. 1.1 RISK ADJUSTED AND MULTI-PRONG STRATEGY  The strategy links the risk adjusted plans and multi-prong approach which seeks to address the following;  Integrated InstitutionalArrangement per district (DDM Approach)  Flattening the COVID-19 curve  Management of infections, recoveries and fatalities.  Effective provisioning of Hospital Medicine, Personnel and Equipment.  Provisioning of sustainable water and sanitation  Fighting hunger through food security and shelter for the needy.  Implementation of economic recovery stimulus  Enforcement of the lockdown regulations  Uninterrupted teaching and learning in schools  Sustainable Government business continuity  Optimal utilization of financial resources for COVID-19  The Province is adjusting the Risk adjusted Plan from level 3 to 2 in line with lockdown regulations. beds, Quarantine/isolation facilities, 4

  8. 2.3 CONTACT TRACING @ 21 August 2020 There are 2 467 contact tracers To date, a total of 23 294 contacts have been identified. Of these 22 019 (95%) have been traced. For all identified contacts, all of the districts have traced >80% contacts. A total of 5 327 contacts were taken specimen and 1 489 (28%) tested positive Positivity rate among contacts: 6%(1 489/23 294) 58% (13 416/ 23 294) contacts have completed 14 days monitoring period. The untraced contacts are from the new cases, line listing of contacts in progress. • • • • • • • 8

  9. 2.4 Mining response The mining and big businesses recorded 4 808 cases to date with 4 484 recoveries and 47 deaths Partnership has been forged with different mining houses and big businesses across the province Notable progress is recognised in the Bojanala district (Hot spot District) through the Rustenburg Health Forum (RHF) made up of Bojanala District (Health) and mining houses Achievements across the districts covers the following : Setting up of quarantine facilities, field hospital , non clinical isolation sites and hospital beds for treatment. Joint contact tracing done with the Department of Health Support for testing Support with provision of PPEs Data sharing through the District Nerve Centres and Provincial OHS Committee with mines and big industries Return to work plans are shared and monitored by DOH • • • • • • • • • • 9

PROVISION OF PUBLIC SERVICES IMPACT OF COVID-19 ON EMPLOYEES Confirmed cases: 3149 out of 69879 Recoveries : 1930 Active cases: 1182 There are 37 death cases reported in the public services: 1,17 % death rate. There is an significant increase in the number of recoveries reported compared to the previous reporting period. The following mitigating actions are in progress; – Strict adherence to prescribed COVID 19 prevention protocols in order to curb the spread of the virus in the workplace. – Policy developed regularly working at home. – BCP’s of all departments be revised to accommodate disruptions caused by the impact of COVID-19 in the workplace. – Provision of Psycho social services to employees. • • • • • • 10

FOCUS ON SECTOR HOTSPOTS - DOE 4. 2 UPDATE ON PHASED IN REOPENING  New grades and Schools of Skills for level 1 to 3 coming in on 24.08.2020  Grade 5 and 8 only coming in on 31.08.2020  The Department will sample 50% of the schools for monitoring  A national instrument will be used  Finalising the distribution of outstanding cloth masks to districts and schools during the weekend  Challenges with infrastructure and shortage of mobiles in some special, hostels and mega farm schools impacting on the return of learners in some grades  The Department will heighten the back to school campaign through QLTC structures  The Department will continue to monitor water consumption levels and supply and report cases to District Command Centres 12

  19. 7. FOCUS ON SECTOR HOTSPOTS – COGTA & DWS 7.1 District Development Model District Command Councils have started meeting to establish and implement Ward Based COVID-19 Fora. A Standardised Agenda has been developed for all meetings. 7.2 Water and Sanitation The emergency provisions made towards assisting various municipalities with leasing trucks was not originally planned for the current financial year 2020/2021 (PIG), therefore has affected projects which were budgeted for; In addition to the above the provincial department of treasury has reduced the current financial budget allocated to the department of water and sanitation by 50 million translating to 50%; Again the original emergency provisions towards leasing of trucks was scheduled for three months, however it has since been extended with additional three months ending on 31st August 2020; The following mitigations are in place; • Municipalities to reprioritize their MIG budget to address the gap that will be created by the withdrawal of the 63 water tankers • Monitoring of water & sanitation projects are ongoing. • • • • • 19

HUMANITARIAN RELIEF - DSD 10.1 FOOD PARCELS Food Parcel BOJ NMM DR.RSM DR.KK Province Food Parcel to date • The food hamper provided to households is adequate for consumption of three (3) people for a month • Most of the beneficiaries are granny , youth and single parent house headed households. Communication Interventions REPORTING PERIOD : 17-23 August 2020 • Provincial Coronavirus Command Council briefed the media (on 17 August) on COVID-19 PPE expenditure Media briefings to be held weekly, i.e. every Thursday • Six (6) 30 minutes radio slots (Wednesdays and Thursdays) • secured on Motsweding FM from 20 August to 09 September 2020 for members of Command Council to talk about COVID- 19 relief packages/intervention offered by government through various departments. Numerous COVID-19 messages are developed on a • continuous basis and shared on various communication platforms 31

  32. 13. RECOMMENDATIONS 13. It is recommended that:- 13.1. That the Members of the Study Group take note of the progress registered on the implementation of the Integrated Provincial Risk Adjusted Plan in line with lockdown regulations 32
