  1. River Gate Elementary Science Fair 2013

  2. Timeline January 24th –Science Fair information goes home. February 7th – Science Fair Topics Due – (Form to be signed by teacherapproving project.) February 14th – Report hypothesis and materials/procedure to teacher March 8th – Report data/results and conclusions to teacher.

  3. GNN • Daily lessons on GNN starting first of February • Joy Gallo’s third graders will be demonstrating the scientific process

  4. Materials • All forms on Science Fair Wiki page: http://rivergate5thgrade.cmswiki.wikispaces.net/Science+Fair • Other information available, too, including a “Topic Selection Wizard” • Everything available in Spanish and English.

  5. Judging/Presentations • Fifth grade projects due – March 18th • Fourth grade projects due – March 19th • Third grade projects due – March 20th • March 22nd- Science Fair Day! • Judging - outside panel of judges. • 5:00 - 6:00pm – family viewing. • 6:00 – 7:00pm – BINGO Night • 7:00pm – Awards Ceremony/Winners Announced 

  6. Rubrics • Two rubrics for grading available on science fair wiki: • Click here for rubric #1 • Click here for rubric #2 • If your team has a rubric you have used in the past, you’d be willing to share, please • email it to a science committee member.

  7. Prizes • The team is working with local businesses to get admissions passes, etc. for prizes. • If you know of a business that might like to help, please let us know.

  8. Support • 3-5 grade level recess support groups held by a teacher on the grade level • Support staff/special area/TA to coach neediest students through the process • EC team on board, so are a few Teacher Assistants • Will send out an email – you can respond if you are interested in being a Science Fair mentor • 100% participation – no students feeling left out/stressed out because they have no project due to lack of support from home
