The student should be able to model and solve application problems while learning to: • Add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions and decimals. • Utilize the correct order of operations • Evaluate powers and roots • Convert between fractions, decimals, and percents • Express ratio and solve proportions • Solve percent problems using the percent equation or the proportion method • Use unit analysis within the U.S. system and within the metric system • Describe and define lines, angles, and basic geometric figures

Calculate the perimeter, area, and volume of basic geometric figures • Apply the Pythagorean Theorem • Add, subtract, multiply, and divide signed numbers • Solve simple linear equations in the form ax + b = c • Determine mean, median, and mode • Interpret basic statistical graphs • Use appropriate technology
