AYLA Alamance Youth Leadership Academy: Developing Leaders of Tomorrow

AYLA is a leadership program sponsored by the Alamance Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the Alamance Burlington School System and Elon University Center for Leadership. Selected students gain leadership skills, confidence, public speaking abilities, motivation, character development, problem-solving skills, communication skills, organizational and facilitation skills, and knowledge about Alamance County. The program includes a summer experience at Elon University, regular chapter meetings, field trips, and service projects.

What is ayla? • Ayla is a leadership program sponsored by the Alamance chamber of commerce that is supported by the Alamance Burlington school system and the elon university center for leadership. • Only 200 students in alamANCE COUNTY ARE SELECTED TO PARTICIPATE (12 PER YEAR FROM EACH SCHOOL)

What will you gain from ayla? • Leadership skills • Confidence and the ability to speak well in public • Motivational skills • Character development • Relationship with other students from other schools • problem-solving skills • Communication skills • Organizational and facilitation skills • Knowledge about Alamance county

  4. requirements • Attend the summer experience at elon university (June 17-20, 2018) • Attend 80% of all regular chapter meetings held at turrentine • Remain in good standing at turrentine (grades, behavior) • Actively participate in all projects and other activies

  5. activities • We meet one morning a week before school • Four field trips throughout the year to county ayla events • Service projects in/and around turrentine

  6. To apply • complete the student application and turn it in to coach wolff or ms trotter by Wednesday, march 7
