  1. Gouache Paints - The New Age Trending Paint Painting is food for the soul for many people out there. Watercolor, Oil paints, Acrylic paints, Gouache paints are few of the many mediums used by artists. Where we must have heard about most mediums, gouache is one of the mediums that are lesser known and used. So it is vital we know what makes it different from other mediums before we choose to use them. What is Gouache? Gouache is opaque watercolor. These colors are famous for having an opaque matte finish that leaves the painting vibrant. These colors are extensively used in the designing industry be it fashion, architecture, interiors, etc. The opaque matte finish of Gouache paints also makes them ideal for the photography due to the paints

  2. being non reflective on paper. Hence used widely for design based illustrations. Are Gouache Paints and Watercolors the Same? This is the most frequently asked question, but no, both these mediums are different from each other. Gouache paints are known being opaque and matte and Watercolors are transparent. To understand how to use Gouache, one should have good knowledge about the amount of water to be mixed with these colors. The right amount of water if mixed with gouache will result in a superfine painting, but little water would end up with cracking of the paint and a little too much water would make these colors look-like watercolors. What Brushes go Well with Gouache Paints? Another frequent question that arises in an artists’ mind is that what brush should be used with gouache paints. Well, the answer is synthetic brushes. And that’s simply because the water-holding capacity of these brushes is less in comparison to a natural hairbrush. Thus, synthetic brushes will help you get that creamy mix, resulting in good control of the colors while painting. What Shades to Go For? For a beginner, it is advisable to go with primary colors along with black and white. You can mix-n-blend to make all the other colors. Also, once you’ll get the hang of using gouache colors with ease, you can invest in more shades afterwards. So, for all the first-timers, only a few shades are enough to kick-start your painting journey. So, now that we have given you an overview of what gouache paints are, which brush to use, what shades to try, etc., why don’t you buy yourself some of these creamy textured colors? Start your painting career with these paints and see how they’ll enhance your art. Happy painting!
