  1. Breaking Downward The Chemicals Operational In Wastewater Action Water is necessary for a lot of domestic and industrial behavior. After use, this water contains many biological and chemical contaminants. We then say that this water, contaminated and rejected after use, is used.  Pre-treatment (physical) Physical pre-treatment removes larger solid wastes and insoluble matter. First, during screening, the wastewater passes through a grid that retains the large floating waste. Then, desalting removes sand and gravel from the water by sedimentation in a basin. Finally, the oils and greases produce foam on the surface of the water, which will be removed using a scraper during the de-oiling stage.

  2.  Primary treatment (Physic-chemical) The water treatment chemicals also called primary water treatment. It consists of decantation, which makes it possible to eliminate part of the solids in suspension in the water. The addition of certain chemical substances facilitates decantation by forming small flakes of material. These then end up at the bottom of the basin, where they form a bed of primary sludge.  Secondary treatment (biological) The remaining dissolved organic matter will undergo biological treatment, also called secondary treatment. First, the air is injected into aeration basins so that the oxygen promotes the growth of microorganisms. These then smash down some of the organic substance into carbon dioxide and water. Then, bacteria break down the excess organic matter during biological filtration. By settling, the solid matter settles at the bottom of the basin and forms secondary sludge, which will also be treated as the primary sludge. During this stage of wastewater treatment, 75% to 95% of organic matter is removed. Following this step, the water is clean enough to be returned to the waterways, but it can also undergo additional treatment.  Complementary (or tertiary) treatments Complementary treatments are added to the basic treatments when wastewater must be discharged into fragile ecosystems.. Dephosphatation, on the other hand, makes it possible to precipitate excess phosphates in the water by adding lime or iron chloride. Finally, filtration through a bed of sand and activated charcoal eliminates various chemical contaminants.

  3.  PHASE 1: MECHANICAL WATER TREATMENT In this first phase, the wastewater will be subject to mechanical treatment, which will eliminate approximately 20 to 30% of the solids in suspension. The system will send the wastewater back to a screening plant, where a sieve or a grid, or a drum-sifter will take care of filtering the coarse impurities, such as leaves, paper, or textiles. The water will travel through different grids, ranging from coarse grids several centimeters wide to grids with a reduced mesh of only a few millimeters, flowing at different speeds and thus gradually filtering the coarse materials. The mechanically collected debris is wrung out, transported, and then disposed of in an incineration plant. The pre-purified water then passes through what is called a grit trap. In a wastewater treatment system, a sedimentation pit is used to remove coarse particles, such as stones, shards of glass, or sand, as well as organic material that has not been pre-filtered by the screens. The stream flows at a relatively high speed of about 0.3 m/s. A distinction is made between long non-aerated grit traps, long aerated grit traps - also called cylindrical grit traps - and, finally, round grit traps.
