  10. New Year’s Day • As the show begins, the band starts the countdown: • 10… 9… 8… 7… 6… 5… 4… 3… 2… 1… • The show starts right at Midnight with a rendition of the folk song “Auld Lange Syne” to signify the start of a new year. • The band is in a company front in the middle of the field

  12. New Year’s Day • The Colorguard will be split between Rifles and Flags • The flags will be on 6’ poles • Bright Silver Textured flags • (Think Confetti and streamers)

  13. New Year’s Day • The music starts off in “half-time” • After a short fermata, the music switches to “double-time” • The group ends with the band making a giant “1”

  15. Valentine’s Day • Music: Seasons of Love, from “Rent” • Music is upbeat, starts with percussion/ Woodwinds • Music gradually crescendos • Band/guard in curvilinear forms

  16. Valentine’s Day • Guard starts off with rifles/silver flags • Rifle people continue • Silver flags switch to rose flags • Rifles switch after

  17. Valentine’s Day • Drill set for impact

  18. Spring • Music: Simple Gifts by Aaron Copland • Emphasis on growth, being “bright” • Percussion transition to pit instruments • Trumpet solo acc. By percussion • Woodwind/Pit percussion soli • Full ensemble “Impact” halt • Fade out

  19. Spring • Guard changes equipment during drum break • Guard soloist during Trumpet solo (dance) • Some more guard members Join in during woodwind soli • Full guard w/ flags for “impact” section

  21. Summer • Music: School’s Out by Alice Cooper • Abrupt change—starts with percussion drumbreak • Loud “school bell” rings at the beginning of the drumbreak • Students have angular block sets • Colorguard on Rifles/flag poles

  23. Independence Day • Music:TheStars and Stripes Forever, John Philip Sousa • The idea is to represent/reflect an Independence Day parade • Band marches straight forward (like in a parade) • Guard uses rifles and Patriotic Flags

  27. Autumn • Music: Autumn Leaves by Joseph Kosma • Transition from “Independence Day” uses quote from “Summertime” • Hornline+guard forms “Tree” set • Half-Time feel (slow) • Possible “body work” during Tree set

  28. Autumn • Guard switches flags During transition • Full guard ensemble On Leaf Flags • Section ends with Flags falling to ground

  30. Winter • Music: Jingle Bells • Students sit up like they’re feeling snow on their faces • Jovial, playful style • Drill in pods • Guard uses rifles, maybe snowflakes

  32. Christmas • Music: Angels we have Heard on High • Starts layering on top of Jingle Bells • Hornline gradually starts collecting closer together • Arrive at slow section – Halt in Christmas tree set

  35. New Year’s Eve • Auld Lange Syne • After the Christmas section, the band starts the countdown again (10… 9… etc) • Band plays “Auld Lange Syne” again, but this time it gets a better resolution
