  6. Recruitment Quote 101 “In fact, everyone who is a TM member is a winner, because you are improving yourselves. By conducting mock business meetings, giving impromptu speeches on assigned topics; researching and presenting substantive speeches, and providing constructive evaluations of your peers, you are building interpersonal and leadership skills – skills that are critical in the modern workplace. Just as TMs members learn to speak simply by speaking, you also learn leadership by leading.” Janice Lachance, the Director, Office of Personnel Management (OPM) (2000)

  7. Strategy for Success Growth in Communications and Leadership + Improved Confidence SUCCESS IN ALL ENDEAVORS!!!!! =

  8. Strategy for Success • Three Common Threads in DoD: • (True) Leaders are respected and admired • Communicators are sought after to brief and sell the senior leadership’s message • Professional development is the cornerstone of all service’s enlisted and officer ranks. • Find a “Few Good Men (people)” • Most military clubs have 2 - 4 movers • These are the ‘motivators’

  9. Strategy for Success • Remove Rank from TMI: • TM Jones this is TM Williams--get away from rank, it can serve to intimidate, not motivate! • Create a Schedule (orders/stability) • Create a Club Handbook (regulation) • Challenges Drive Success • Bring our leadership traits • Makes some work ‘that much’ harder
