The influence of parents • Influential psychologists such as these three, said that a child’s early relationship with its parents (especially the mother) sets the tone for later relationships. • Children who have secure relationships with their parents are more likely to be accepted by friends and contemporaries • Children who have difficult relationships with brothers and sisters form closer friendships outside the home Sigmund Freud John Bowlby Jean Piaget

  3. The influence of the family Extended Families A family that includes grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as parents and children Nuclear Families Consists of a couple and their children living together, without members of their wider family

Formal or work relationships • Poor relationships at work are harmful to production and efficiency. • Poor relationships can lead to personal dissatisfaction, depression and ill-health. • After the financial incentive to work the next incentive is the company they enjoy with their work colleague or workmates.

Social, informal relationships • The need to have a balanced lifestyle • The enjoyment of participating in relationships • Being free from responsibilities of home and work for a short space of time • Discover the lighter side of ourselves • People with religious beliefs meet together to share thoughts and discussion, worship and praise. This reaffirms their faith.
