  1. Repairing the Damage • Think of a time when you hurt your best friend/ someone in your family. • Think of what had to happen in order to make up again

  2. To name and explain the 4 stages of the Sacrament of Reconciliation (L3/L4) To understand how the Sacrament helps people. (L5) Sacrament of ReconciliationWhat were the 4 stages in the Parable of the Lost Son before the son was reconciled to the Father ?

  3. The 4 stages(match the stage to the meaning) feeling genuinely sorry for doing it, expressed by saying an “act of contrition” • Confession: • Contrition: • Absolution: • Penance: a task you agree to undertake to prove you’re sorry/ make up the damage Receiving God’s forgivenessin Jesus Admitting you’ve done wrong Which of these 4 stages are said by the person confessing, and which by the priest?

  4. A good Act of Contrition expresses sorrow for sin and asks God for help. Which one is the least appropriate? Write your own version, remembering to express sorrow and ask for God’s help. • I am sorry for having done wrong and I ask your help not to sin again. • In choosing to do wrong and failing to do good, I have sinned against You whom I should love above all things. With your help, I will try not sin again • O My God, I am very sorry for having offended You, and with your help, I will not sin again. • Lord Jesus, have mercy on me a sinner. . You can only be forgiven if you are truly sorry and after you complete your penance.

  5. Effects of the Sacrament of Reconciliation • What difference does it make? What does God’s loving power do in it ? • Forgiven: closer relationship to God • Feeling better about yourself: a peaceful, happy conscience • Spiritually stronger - to resist sin and temptation • Reconciled with people you have hurt Rank these reasons - most important to less important. Why is your top one most important to you ?
