  2. Weight Loss  Coughing  Hoarseness in voice  Frequent choking on food  Pain behind the breastbone  What are the preventive measures? Eat alkaline fruits like melons. Alkaline fruits will neutralise the acidic content in the body and maintain the pH balance. You can make a smoothie by mixing honeydew, melon, and cantaloupe and eat it. Avoid berries, especially blackberries which are highly acidic and trigger acid reflux.  Ginger is popularly known for its healing effects on stomach woes. Use ginger whenever you experience stomach ache. It is noted for its anti-inflammatory properties which can soothe your acid reflux symptoms. Try drinking a ginger tea to avoid acid reflux.  Eating green vegetables like spinach, asparagus, kale, Brussels sprouts, which are alkaline vegetables that will give you relief from acid reflux. Spinach has a soothing effect on your corroded oesophagus as it maintains the pH balance in the body. It should be noted that spinach must be consumed in its raw state only as it acquires a little acidic nature when cooked.  Consume Raw Organic Apple Cider Vinegar gives instant acid reflux relief. It is a widely used natural remedy to treat skin and stomach woes. It has a pH level of 5 and when you drink it, you are at a lesser risk of sustaining heartburn.  People suffering from frequent bouts of acid reflux should avoid acidic foods such as tomato sauce, fried foods, spicy foods, tomato-based products, high-fat foods, beef, greasy foods, chocolates, caffeine, garlic, beer, full-fat dairy products, citrus fruit juices, onions, soda, and peppermint, as these are very potent in triggering acid reflux.  People suffering from frequent bouts of acid reflux should also abstain from smoking and drinking. You must consult the doctor to help you quit smoking. Alcohol is another big factor splashing up the acid to the oesophagus from the stomach.  Being overweight will pose greater danger to experience frequent acid reflux, reason being that extra weight puts lot of pressure on LES as a result of which the acid from the stomach goes up the oesophagus. This weakens the muscle and increases the risk of digestive problems.
