Parallel Lines
• Parallel Lines are lines that never intersect. Two lines are parallel if and only if they have the same slope.
• Always the same distance apart and never touching.

Pairs of Angles
• When parallel lines get crossed by another line (which is called a transversal), you can see that many angles are the same.
• These angles can be made into pairs of angles which have special names.
• Corresponding
• Alternate Interior
• Alternate Exterior
• Vertical
Corresponding Angles
• For any pair of parallel lines that are both intersected by a third line form CORRESPONDING ANGLES.
• Angle A and angle C are called corresponding angles.
• Corresponding angles have the same degree measurement.
• Angle B and angle D are also corresponding angles.
Alternate Interior Angles
• For any pair of parallel lines that are both intersected by a third line form ALTERNATE INTERIOR ANGLES.
• Angle A and angle D are called alternate interior angles.
• Alternate interior angles have the same degree measurement.
• Angle B and angle C are also alternate interior angles.
Alternate Exterior Angles
• For any pair of parallel lines that are both intersected by a third line forms ALTERNATE EXTERIOR ANGLES.
• Angle A and angle D are called alternate exterior angles.
• Alternate exterior angles have the same degree measurement.
• Angle B and angle C are also alternate exterior angles.
Vertical Angles
• For any two lines that meet, such as in the diagram below, angle AEB and angle DEC are called vertical angles.
• Vertical angles have the same degree measurement.
• Angle BEC and angle AED are also vertical angles.
