  2. What is Science Fair? • Science Fair is a competition in which your design your own investigation and share your results • You start by competing at the district level and have an opportunity to move on to the regional and state level

  3. How do I get started? • The first step is to submit three ideas to your science teacher. We will be handing out forms in class for you to present your ideas with. • Remember your ideas need to by testable, and you should be able to run multiple trials with the experiment. • No product tests please (Ex: Which type of battery lasts the longest)

  4. I would like to compete, but I don’t know what to do? • Start with your interests • These are the categories you can compete in: • Animal Science Behavioral and Social Science • Biochemistry Cellular and Molecular Biology • Chemistry Computer Science • Earth Science Engineering: Materials/Bioengineering • Engineering: Electrical/Mechanical Energy and Transportation • Environmental Sciences Environmental Management • Mathematical Science Medicine and Health • Microbiology Physics and Astronomy • Plant Science • Needing more inspiration? Visit the Exxon Mobile Website to see past project ideas. We can’t repeat their projects, but it might give you an idea.

  5. Where will I work on the project? • You can ask your science teacher or Mrs. Lynch questions at any time. • Most of the actual experiment will be completed at home, so you can run and check trials when needed.

  6. What are the project requirements? • Research Plan • Research Paper (Yes a paper, but it isn’t that bad) • Project Experiment • Science Fair Board Display with results and the scientific method

  7. Don’t be Scared to Compete!! • We are here to help you with ideas, paperwork and getting started on the research paper. • It is only ONE research paper! Remember there are field trips involved for participants that meet project requirements!! • We will help you fill out the appropriate paperwork for your project also.
