Need for multiple flows management • Problem: Support for multiple flows reservation • Different multiple flows scenarios • Numerous sub flows for one application session • Multiple access interface for one network node (multi-homing) • Multiple flows during a mobile soft handover • Issues • Distinction between multiple flows reservation and single flow handover • Need to inform the network on the treatment of the old flow after a new flow setup

Solution for multiple flows management • MN indicates action on the old flow to the network • Old_Path_Action option in NSLP messages • No action • Teardown immediately • Gradual Teardown • Delayed Teardown with timer • Reduce resource reservation to zero • Usage of Old_Path_Action options • Present in the setup message of the new flow • Old path action is triggered after new flow establishment

  4. Multiple flows in a mobile handover • Ping-pong type handover • Staggering movements between 2 access networks • Slow old path re-establishment

  5. Multiple paths in a mobile handover • Solution • Reduce resource reservation in old path to zero • States and peer-peer association retained
