The vertebrae are stacked on top of one another to form the spinal column. It is the spinal column that supports a person’s head and protects the spinal cord. As the main structure this links the network of nerves throughout a human body. The messages travel along this network transporting pain sensations to your brain. The first seven bones in the spinal column called the cervical vertebrae form your neck. These bones are connected together by facet joints. These are small joints between an individual’s vertebrae that, together with your neck muscles, allow a person to move their head in any direction freely. There are discs of cartilage between the vertebrae. These discs act as shock absorbers and provide the spine its flexibility. A slipped disc occurs when one of these discs slips slightly out of its natural position in the spine. Often back pain treatment centers in south Delhi educate a patient if their neck pain is a result of some issues in the spinal cord, etc. Neck pain is the stiffness and pain that a person experiences in their neck, which in some cases restricts mobility of the neck accompanied with sharp or mild pain depending upon the cause and severity of the condition faced. If any given point of time you experience severe pain, it is advised that you visit a physiotherapy clinic in Delhi or any accredited doctor who can help you determine the cause and treatment procedure. Pain and stiffness A person may experience pain in the middle or pain on either side of their neck. At times, it may also extend to the shoulder or to the upper chest. If the pain severity is too high, it is recommended that a person visits back pain treatment center in south Delhi to help understand the cause and adapt to a treatment procedure fit to them. A person may experience pain or weakness in their arms. A person may experience tension headaches, where the pain can often travel to the back of your head and at times, into your ear or behind their eye. It may be painful for a person to move their neck and their muscles may feel tight, especially if they have been sitting or sleeping in one position for a long time. You may notice that your neck won’t turn as far as it normally does, for example when you try to look over your shoulder while reversing the car. If you have pain and stiffness in the neck that came on quickly, possibly overnight, and you have difficulty lifting both arms over your head, this could be a sign of a condition called polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR). This is an inflammatory condition of the muscles. It’s more common in people over the age of 65. If you think you have this condition, you should see a doctor as soon as possible.
