  2. It’s been a week, but Google’s August Broad Core Update has finally fully rolled out. In the previous blog post, I explained some essential information about this ore update. It has been nicknamed as the “Medic Update” because it had a significant impact on health and medical sites. The update was massive, and it affected the sites on a global scale. According to Search Engine Roundtable, after reviewing over 300 sites that were impacted by the update, more than a third (close to half) of which are from the medical, health, fitness, and healthy lifestyle field. Of course, other niche sites were also affected. E-commerce, insurance, business to business, finance, and technology are some of the most affected niche sites in the recent update. Sites like these, also known as YMYL or “Your Money or Your Life” pages are focused on money and life events.  ANYTHINGSEO

  3. Solicit personal information – any page that asks for personal identification numbers, bank account numbers, license numbers, etc. AS EXPLAINED BY SEARCH ENGINE LAND, YMYL PAGES ARE DEFINED BY GOOGLE RATERS’ GUIDELINE AS SITES Are used for monetary transactions – any page that allows you to buy something Offer medical or health information – any page that provides information that may impact physical well-being THAT: Offer advice on major life decisions – any help page for parenting, buying cars or homes Offer advice on major life issues – any help page that affects happiness or finances

  4. The changes in the SERP rankings allowed sites with “better” content to rank higher. However, the people who were negatively affected begs the question: Why? Why is my site negatively affected by Google’s Medic Update? The only real quick answer to that is: their site is better. The answer to the next question is what matters now: What do you do about it? You need to analyse your site and the competitor’s site objectively. Compare and contrast between the two to know what they did right and what you probably did wrong. Make changes to improve. Conclusion In the SEO industry, always remember to put the user’s need first. Make your site, content, and UX better for users and crawlers. THE CHANGES IN THE SERP RANKINGS ALLOWED SITES WITH “BETTER” CONTENT TO RANK HIGHER. HOWEVER, THE PEOPLE WHO WERE NEGATIVELY AFFECTED BEGS THE QUESTION: WHY? ANYTHINGSEO
