Industry • Navan was the centre of the Irish Carpet making industry, before this was lost to overseas competition. • Farming is a main part of Meath's industry. • Localised tourism in Trim, Kells, Tara and the Boyne Valley. • Quarrying and Mining. Europe's largest underground lead-zinc mine, Tara Mines, has operated since 1977, at a location to the west of Navan.

It was written close to the year 800 and can be seen in Trinity Collage, Dublin. ‘Beautiful Meath’ is a famous song in Meath and is sometimes sung when the county GAA team play in Croke Park Meath's name in Irish is An Mhí, it means ‘The Middle’.
