  1. STOP USING OVEN’S SELF-CLEANING FEATURE- WARNING The self-cleaning feature on your oven may seem incredibly useful because it takes the work out of doing regular maintenance for one of your most-used kitchen appliances. But unfortunately, using the self-cleaning feature on your oven can be detrimental to your health. And it comes with the added risk of damaging your oven too! If you are someone who wants to use that feature make sure you hand over this work to any professional appliance repair team. Who told you about the precautions related to the same. So, before you decide that you’re going to use the feature, you should take a closer look at a few of the risks it poses to your health and your oven. So what do you do? Go back to basics and wipe the inside of your oven down with your favorite cleaner when it gets dirty. Even if you use your oven's self cleaner without issue, they note it's important to be aware of the risk of damage to your oven when you run it. Why you should never use it? • It creates a carbon monoxide Build: As you are all probably aware, Carbon Monoxide is super toxic to humans and can cause an array of problems. It has been revealed that the self-cleaning feature on ovens can cause a build-up of Carbon Monoxide gas. It is hard to detect Carbon Monoxide, which is why it is even more dangerous because the gas might be being released into the air without you knowing, and it can cause poisoning if not detected. This happens because of the build-up of old burnt and charred food in the oven. When it gets heated up at the high temperatures of the self-cleaning mode; it can cause the food to release Carbon Monoxide. To avoid burnt food heating up and potentially causing Carbon Monoxide, you shouldn’t use the self- cleaning oven feature. Instead, you should remove and clean the burnt food manually, using a scrubbing brush and hot soapy water, and specific oven cleaning products.

  2. Pet safety: • If you absolutely must use your self-cleaning oven feature, be sure that any animals you have are placed outside. Do this even if the kitchen area is well ventilated because it is better to be safe than sorry when it comes to your animals’ health. Birds can either be placed in a ventilated room as far from the kitchen as possible or outside in a shaded area if weather permits. It might not be a bad idea for you and anyone else in the house to spend some time outside while the oven is cleaning. While you may not have the same sensitive respiratory system as a bird, there’s no reason for you to risk your health. Once again, it is always advisable to bypass the self-cleaning oven feature and clean it the old-fashioned way instead. Your pets will thank you! • Fire Hazard: Last, but certainly not least, the self-cleaning feature can present a fire hazard. Even if you’veremoved all the larger food particles, you’ll likely have grease or cooking oil splatters and spills to burn off. With an inside temperature exceeding 500° C, and a flash point (the temperature at which items can self-combust without an ignition source) between 750 to 815°F° or between 400 to 435° C, your leftover pepperoni grease can start on fire. A word of advice: If your oven does catch on fire during the clean cycle, don’t try to put it out. Even if the oven has cooled sufficiently for the door to open, doing so will allow oxygen to rush in and fuel the flames. If you are looking for an appliance repair team.
