Está siendp desarrollado por Ubisoft y será la precuela del videojuego de 2012 assassin´sCredd III. Su temática gira entorno a la piratería en El Caribe en el siglo XVIII. Su protagonisa, Edward Kenway, se describe como el azote de los mares, un hábil pirata y asesino al cual admira hasta el mismísimo Barbanegra.
