This report provides an overview of the activities and updates discussed at the IEEE 802.19 March Plenary Meeting. It includes information on liaisons with 3GPP, possible additional liaisons, TG1a progress, and the formation of the Wireless Automotive Coexistence Study Group.

  2. Voter Summary • IEEE 802.19 has 32 voting members Steve Shellhammer, Qualcomm

  3. Liaisons with 3GPP on LAA • At the March Plenary we sent a liaison to 3GPP regarding LAA • http://www.ieee802.org/Communications.shtml • In speaking to the RAN and RAN1 chairs the IEEE can expect a response to that liaison after the 3GPP meeting the week of May 23-27 • Andrew Myles et. al. have prepared a draft liaison to 3GPP which 802.19 will consider this week Steve Shellhammer, Qualcomm

  4. Possible Additional Liaisons • New York City (NYC) sent a letter to 3GPP regarding LAA and copied IEEE 802 • IEEE 802 chair has suggested that IEEE 802 consider sending a letter to NYC in response to that letter. This will be discussed at the meeting this week • IEEE 802 chair has also suggested that IEEE 802 send a liaison to WFA requesting information on the coexistence testing, including their schedule and progress update, etc. • This will be discussed this week in 802.19 Steve Shellhammer, Qualcomm

  5. Task Group 1a (TG1a) • TG1a has completed an initial draft • This week TG1a will consider beginning a task group review, in preparation for a working group letter ballot • See TG1a agenda doc. 802.19-16/78 for this week’s details Steve Shellhammer, Qualcomm

  6. Wireless Automotive Coexistence – Study Group • Study Group Formation • In March the IEEE 802 executive committee approved formation of a study group on “Wireless Automotive Coexistence” • Leadership • Study Group Chair – Alaa Mourad (BMW) • Study Group Vice Chair – Igal Kotzer (General Motors) • Scope • The scope of the study group is provided in document 802.19-16/10r2 • This week is the first face-to-face SG meeting Steve Shellhammer, Qualcomm
