  1. Paying for College Offices of Student Accounts & Financial Aid

  2. Financial Aid • Haven’t applied? It’s not too late! • Already applied? See Next Steps and Knightweb to be sure all steps have been completed to finalize the financial aid.

  3. Check Knightweb… • … to accept or decline financial aid awards • … to check Student Requirements for items that need to be submitted – verification, student loan documents, work-study, and other possible items • Emails sent to parent and student about “missing items"

  4. Awards in Knightweb • Pell Grant – “Estimated”– we will update this to “Actual” • TAP/SUNY Tuition Credit – “Estimated” needs YOUR attention • Excelsior – “Estimate” is normal – will be updated to “Actual” once confirmed • Student Loans and Work Study – student must accept or decline

  5. Federal Direct Stafford Loan • Accept or decline loans on Knightweb • If accepting, complete Federal Direct Stafford Loan entrance counseling and loan agreement at www.studentloans.gov

  6. Finalizing NYS TAP • Go to www.hesc.ny.govto verify you applied for TAP and that your award will be sent to Geneseo (our state code - 0920)

  7. Finalizing the NYS Excelsior Scholarship • Go to www.hesc.ny.gov to submit Excelsior application • Deadline to apply is August 15, 2019 • Once HESC notifies the student by email to complete the contract, sign in to hesc.ny.gov and follow directions for completing and uploading NOTE: Must enroll in 12 credits per semester and earn 30 credits per year to remain eligible.

  8. The College Bill • Fall bills will be available in early July • SUNY Geneseo uses electronic billing • The first billing notice will be sent by mail – all other notices will be sent via email • Students can access the Student Account Center to view and pay the bill (not on Knightweb)

Authorized Payers • Students can create “authorized payers” (parents or other family members) who will receive bill emails and can access the bill and information on how to pay it • Adding an authorized payer: • Student signs into MyGeneseo • Select Student Accounts Center under “Sites” • Click on the Authorized Payer option on the left

Payment Plans 2 Payment Plan Option • Payments due August 1 and October 1 • $25 application fee 4 Payment Plan Option • Payments due August 1, September 1, October 1, & November 1 • $30 application fee Complete the application • Student Account Center- “View & Pay Accounts” • Student Accounts Office website

  11. Bill Due Date • Fall bills are due on August 1st • IMPORTANT! • Student will be de-registered from classes if payment is not received by the bill due date • Communicate, Communicate, Communicate!!

FERPA • Family Education Rights and Privacy Act • Protects the privacy of student’s education records • Students can give us permission to communicate with others about financial aid or billing account • To give permission: • Go to the Forms section of either the Student Accounts or Financial Aid Offices website

  14. Maintaining Eligibility for Financial Aid • Coursework must be required for the degree program to be eligible for financial aid • Student must meet satisfactory academic criteria to remain eligiblefor aid • Federal and state criteria differ – visit our website

  15. Geneseo Email • Students need to check their Geneseo email account regularly • Email is our primary mode of communication
