Bruun’s Rule Assumptions With rising sea level, the upper beach is eroded due to the landward translation of the profile. The material eroded from the upper beach is deposited immediately offshore - the eroded and deposited volumes are equal. Nearshore bottom level rise is equal to sea level rise, maintaining a steady offshore water depth through time.
