  1. Heart Valve Disease and Its Types Heart valve exists at the exit of each chamber to maintain a one-way blood flow in or out of the chamber. There are four heart chambers and four heart valves in a human heart. Each of them

  2. is equally important and is required to flow blood in a particular direction either for purification or for transportation. Any damage or hole in the valve might lead to mixing of blood with might further cause a life-threatening condition. Therefore, it is necessary to address the problem and immediately consult the best cardiac surgeon in Jaipur. The body shows certain signs and symptoms, it is important to notice such signs as early diagnosis of the problem helps in proper treatment. Symptoms: - - - - - - - - - - Fatigue Swelling in ankles and feet Weakness Nausea Chest pain Heart murmur Irregular heartbeat Breathlessness Dizziness Sudden weight gain or weight loss How Does The Heart Valves Work There are four heart valves present at the exit point of four chambers and each of them is responsible for the flow of blood from one chamber to another and prevents backward flow of the blood back into the chamber. The blood in a heart flows from the right atrium from the body to the right ventricle through a tricuspid valve. Then the right ventricle pumps the oxygen-deficient blood to the lungs through the pulmonary valve where the oxygenation of blood takes place. The oxygen-rich blood gets into the left atrium and pumps that blood into the left ventricle through the mitral valve. From there the oxygen-rich blood is transported through the aortic valve to the rest of the body. Each of the valves plays an important role and any hole or damage in any of the valves might create a life-threatening situation. Types Of Heart Valve Disease Valvular stenosis: Valvular stenosis is a condition where the valves are not able to open completely. Due to which the blood flow is not proper. It occurs due to the stiffening or thickening of the valve and it can occur on any of the four valves. Some people do not require treatment for it but in severe cases might require surgery or a valve replacement procedure. Bicuspid Aortic valve disease: In Bicuspid Aortic valve disease the person is born with a defect where only two flaps are present instead of three. In many cases, the symptoms start to show after birth but in some cases, it is not diagnosed until adulthood as the symptoms are not prominent. People suffering from this disorder require surgery to repair or complete the replacement of the valve.

  3. Mitral valve prolapse: Mitral valve prolapse is known by several names such as balloon mitral valve, Barlow’s syndrome, click-murmur syndrome, etc. In this condition, the valve doesn’t close properly causing the blood to flow back into the left atrium. Most people don’t show any symptoms until the condition is severe. The treatment of the Mitral valve prolapsed usually includes surgical repair of the valve or replacement of the mitral valve.
