British Nationality Act 1948 America restricted immigration which had been previously popular for Caribbean emigrants Poor standards of living Britain advertised in the Caribbean for people to immigrate to the UK to fill vacancies in the newly established NHS, for rebuilding and in transport Cheap boat tickets Caribbean people felt British Caribbean people had fought for Britain during WWII

Why did Asians come to the UK? • Write next to these sources why Asians came to the UK Jomo Kenyatta stated that all non-Kenyan Asians were foreigners and could only work and stay on a temporary basis in 1967. He wanted to Africanise the country. Fearing the worst the Asian Kenyans fled. 20,000 fled in 1967. In 1968 the government stopped any more arriving. IdiAmin says all Asians are ‘bloodsuckers’ and issues a decree expelling them. All 60,000 have to leave in 90 days. The second decree said that all professional had to stay.
