  2. Introduction • Central Park Zoo is a small 6.5-acre zoo located on Central Park in New York City. It is part of an integrated system of four zoos and the New York aquarium managed by the Wildlife Conservation Society, and is accredited by the association of zoos and aquariums. The zoo was established in 1860's, and was the first official zoo to open in New York. • In Central Park Zoo there are many different animals and I'm going to talk about most of them. In each paragraph I'm going tell you what animal is in the picture then tell you how many there are in the world and then give some facts about the animal.

  3. Llama In this picture you may know is a Llama. As of 2007 there were over seven million llamas in the world. Llama is an ungulate adapted to high altitude environments. The height of a mature llama will average from five to six feet. The body weight will range between 250 and 400 lbs.

  4. Goat There are approximately 500 million goats in the world. There are over 200 recognized breeds of goat. Goats live between eight to twelve years. Goats body weight will range from 22 to 300 lbs (depends on the breed).

  5. Turtle This is a picture of a turtle. There are 280 types of turtles living in the world today.Two thirds of all turtles live in fresh water like: rivers, ponds, and lakes. Land turtles are called tortoises. The ones that live in the saltwater are called sea turtles.

  6. Fish In this picture you see a fish. There are more then 20,000 different species of fish in the sea meaning there are billions or even trillions of individual fish. Fish sometimes sleep and when they sleep they still swim around the water so you can’t really tell because they don’t close there eyes. Do you think this fish is sleeping?

  7. Parrot This is a parrot , there are around 372 different parrot species. Most parrots live in tropical areas. Parrots are believed to be one of the most intelligent bird species. Most parrots rely on seeds as food. Others may eat fruit, nectar, flowers or small insects.

  8. Swan Swan is a large aquatic bird closely related to Geese and Ducks. Swan is also known for its fierce temperament. They have incredibly strong wings which are said to be able to cause dangerous (sometimes fatal) injuries to any animal the swan feels threatened by.

  9. The Crane In this picture you see is a crane. The crane is a very large birdand is the world’s tallest flying bird. Demoiselle crane which measures 35 inches in length. Sarus crane which can be up to 69 inches. Although the heaviest is red-crowned crane, which can weigh 26 lbs.

  10. Cow In this picture you see a cow. There are about 920 different breeds of cows in the world. They were domesticated about 5,000 years ago. Cows can live 25 years. Per day, a cows spends six hours eating and eight hours chewing cud. The average cow drinks about 30 gallons of water and eats about 95 pounds of feed per day. Cows weigh about on average 1,400 pounds.

  11. California Sea Lion There are 250,000 in the world. There are actually seven species of Sea Lions in the world, but people tend to lump them all into one category. They all belong to a group of animals known as pinnipeds. Sea Lions are very interesting animals that can end up being extremely large.The central park tank contains 148,000 gallons of water. The water depth is 8 feet and the tank is filtered at 400 gallons per minute.
