  2. Adar Poonawalla Early Life • Adar Poonawalla was born on 14th January 1981 to his father Cyrus S. Poonawalla, also known as the ‘Vaccine King Of India’, and mother Villoo Poonawalla. • He took his early education from The Bishop’s School which is located in the city of Pune, after which he went to St. Edmund’s School, Canterbury, and then finally to the University of Manchester. • After his graduation, he joined the Serum Institute of India in 2001, founded by his father.

Career At The Serum Institute Of India • He began his career by exporting the company’s products to 35 countries and got the company a new product license. • Got pre-qualification by the World Health Organization (WHO) for its supply to the United Nations Agencies which also included UNICEF and PAHO. • In the year 2011, he became the Chief Executive Officer of the Serum Institute of India • In 2012, a very important role was played by him for the acquisition of Bilthoven Biologicals, which is a governmental vaccine manufacturing company in the Netherlands.

They have two sons, named Cyrus and Darius Poonawalla.
