Antonym Scales

This engaging activity invites you to select a pair of antonyms from the provided list, such as "hot/cold" or "young/old." Using post-it notes, write one antonym on each note and arrange them along a scale that represents degrees of meaning between the two extremes. This hands-on approach not only enhances vocabulary but also encourages the use of a thesaurus or dictionary to find gradated synonyms. This exercise highlights the concept of gradable antonyms and helps deepen understanding of word relationships.
