  2. Double-Bubble Maps • Thought process: comparing/contrasting • Compare/Contrast point for point • Allow an emotional connection to the information

  3. Start by drawing two circles. Write your topics in the circles. Fred Mary Remember to use color for purpose!!!!

  4. Next, draw a circle for each item that is similar between the two. Write the similarities in these circles. In 7th grade Fred Go to RMS Mary Play the flute Draw lines to connect each topic to each similarity

  5. Draw a circle for each difference. It is important that you draw one on each side for each difference and write them point for point. Here is another example of how you can use color for purpose on a Double-Bubble Map Loves chicken wings Favorite food is pizza In 7th grade Fred Go to RMS Mary Prefers to play wii Likes to play XBOX Play the flute Parents are still married Parents are divorced Notice how each point has its own color but the similarities are the same color?

  8. Why a Double-Bubble Map and Not a Venn Diagram if they do the same thing? I do them in class a lot. Main Points to Remember: • Point for point format allows one to instantly see the differences • Color for purpose gives us a quick visual organization of information • Frame of reference allows us to emotionally connect to the information, therefore allowing us to transfer it from short-term to long-term memory
