  2. What is the employer brand? • Employer branding is the process of managing and influencing your reputation as an employer among job applicants, employees, and key stakeholders. It covers everything you do to position your organization as the employer of choice.

  3. Your employer brand is your organization's reputation as an employer. In simpler terms, it's what job applicants and employees really think of you. It's what they tell their friends and family when you're not around. Although it may not be tangible, your employer's brand is an asset that requires constant cultivation.

  4. That's where employer branding consultancy comes in. • Why "manage" and "influence" rather than "own" or "dictate"? Because your employer's brand is not something you actually own. Your reputation as an employer exists in the minds of candidates and employees, and is shaped by their thoughts and impressions. You have an employer brand, whether you actively manage it or not. Candidates and employees have an opinion about you, and if you're not working to influence it, you're at their mercy.

  5. Think of the entirety of your company's recruitment for employee experience design and retention efforts as a series of individual interactions. Each touch point leaves an impression on candidates and employees that shapes their employer's brand and their ability to hire and retain great people. Without proper management, each of those touch points can become a deal breaker, costing you candidates and employees.

Almost overnight, employees accessed millions of opportunities across the country. The workforce became more fluid than ever, and the days of staying with a long-term company were over.

This is a two-element fact-finding mission designed to find out how the company currently presents itself to candidates and employees and what those people really think about the company. • First, examine everything, and we mean it, you are telling candidates and employees that it could affect their perception of the company. Your job descriptions, career page, social media profiles, acceptance / rejection letters, onboarding materials, internal communications, performance reviews; if it exists, analyze it.

  10. Next, it's time to get feedback from candidates and employees. Remember, the idea here is to understand how they really think and feel about the company, so be sure to ask questions that provide meaningful information. • How would you describe the company to a friend? Why did you choose to apply? Why did they choose to accept / reject your offer? Why do they stay with the company year after year? Why are they leaving the company? Do you feel that the company "walks the road"? • You want to talk to enough people to feel confident that you've collected important data, but don't overdo it. Gathering too much information will make data analysis almost impossible. • Once completed, the employer brand audit will help you identify and correct any gaps that exist between how the company presents itself and how it is perceived by candidates and employees.

  11. Implement your employer branding strategy • At this point, you should be ready to get your message out to the masses. But which channels are the most important? There are countless avenues you can use to promote your employer brand, but when starting out, we recommend starting with the lowest fruit. • Job Descriptions - Job descriptions may not seem like the place to let your personality shine, but they are often the first interaction job seekers will have with your company, so make sure they reflect the employer brand you want .

  12. Career Page - Your career page is the anchor for your employer's branding materials, making it one of the most important points of contact with potential candidates. Attractive photos or videos, employee testimonials, your core values, and more can help convince candidates that you are the place to be, so take the time to mark it.

  13. Online Reviews - These days almost all job seekers read employer reviews before applying for a job, and finding a negative review can stop them in their tracks. While you can't control anonymous reviews, you can reply to them and that can have a serious impact on perceptions. 62% of job seekers say their opinion of a company improved after seeing it respond to a negative review, so pay attention to what people are saying about you and don't be afraid to respond.

  14. Candidate experience: If you are lucky enough to convince a great candidate to apply, at some point you will interact with him offline. Whether on an initial phone screen or in an office interview, the experience the candidate has must align with their employer's brand or they will almost certainly lose it. • Remember to walk before you run.
