  5. Production of Eggs

  6. Human Fertilization Sperm need to go through both corona radiata and zona pellucida before entering the egg. Need large number of sperm to get through to the egg. After sperm enters, 1. egg prevents additional sperm from getting in, 2. second meiotic division occurs, 3. the egg is fertilized, producing the zygote.

  7. male reproductive organ system 1. Sperm pass from the seminiferous tubules of a testis to the epididymis. 2. From the epididymis, sperm passes through the vas deferens and urethra, to the tip of the pinus. 3. Along the way, fluids are added from a. the seminal vesicles, b. the bulbo- urethral glands, and c. the prostate gland.

  8. Female reproductive organ system 1. Eggs are produced in the ovaries 2. Cilia sweep egg into uterine tube 3. Male deposits sperm in vagina, sperm then moves up through cervix and uterus into uterine tube 4. Sperm normally fertilizes egg in uterine tube 5. Fertilized egg attaches to lining of the uterus, where the embryo develops
