  1. The Ultimate Guide to Udaipur - The City of Lakes Udaipur, formerly known as the capital of the Mewar Kingdom is a city in Rajasthan, spread across 37 square kilometers. It was founded by Maharana Udai Singh II in the year 1559. The beautiful city is known for its royal residences, historic forts, and palaces. The city is referred to as "The City of Lakes" because it has 7 lakes surrounding the city: Fateh Sagar Lake, Lake Pichola, Swaroop Sagar Lake, Rangsagar and Doodh Talai Lake. Colonel James Tod, the East India Company’s first political agent gave the city the title of "The most romantic spot on the continent of India". Udaipur Tourism Statistics show that Udaipur is a very popular city among tourists. The number of tourists visited Udaipur in 2018 were approximated to 2.74 lakhs of which only 85,000 were Indian. It was also noted that the maximum number of tourists visited the city was in November & December. It is must visit place in Udaipur. 2. Jag Mandir The Jag Mandir is based on an island in Lake Pichola and is known for its amazing style of design and architecture. The mandir is also called "Lake Garden Palace" The jag mandir's construction was started by Maharana Amar Singh, his work was continued by Maharana Karan Singh (1620–1628) and completed by Maharana Jagat Singh I (1628–1652). It is said that the royal family used this place to beat the summer heat or for hosting parties. 3. Fateh Sagar Lake Fateh Sagar Lake is one of the best places to visit in Udaipur. According to archaeologists, it is said to be an artificial lake named after Maharana Fateh Singh of Udaipur and Mewar. The lake was constructed during the 1680s in the north-west direction of Udaipur and lies in the north of Lake Pichola. Its construction was started by Maharana Udai Singh II in 1553. The palace is situated on the east bank of lake Pichola. It has a magnificent collection of antiques and paintings. 5. Lake Pichola Lake Pichola is a freshwater lake named after the nearby village Picholi village, created in the year 1362 AD. Jag Niwas and Jag Mandir are located within this lake. The lake is surrounded by beautifully built palaces, hills, temples and bathing ghats. The lake is famous for its sunset views and boat cruises throughout the city.
