  1. Managing Jealousy And Availability In A Long Distance Relationship If you’re looking for advice, there is a lot of content that talks about how to deal with long-distance relationships. There is a lot of great advice out there from Kartikeya Sharma that tells you what you should do to better handle a long distance relationship; however, there is one thing that they usually skip. That thing is what you should not do when you are in a long-distance relationship. Below, we will give you a few tips on what you should not do when you are in a situation like this. Fight Off Jealousy There are going to be situations where you won’t fully understand how or why they happen. You may jump to conclusions and think the worst of your partner. Do not do this. Jealousy is an emotion that has the power to destroy a relationship on its own. If there is no trust, there is no way a long distance relationship can survive. By allowing jealous thoughts to enter your mind, you are already setting your relationship up for failure. Don’t Be Hard To Get A hold Of It’s one thing to get caught up in something and lose track of time, but if your partner is expecting to hear from you or talk to you at a certain time, not being there for them when that time comes can feel pretty bad. Being available is something you will both have to prioritize if you want your long distance relationship to work out. It is not going to be as easily to explain away like it would if you were together on a daily basis. Set Expectations Setting expectations is the most important part of making a long-distance relationship work for both of you. Before you part ways, talk about what your expectations are for one another. Are you two going to take some time off or are you going to continue with a fully committed relationship? Do you want to talk every day or is this a good time to give each other some space? Figure out what you and your partner want during this time so that your expectations are in line with each other. By knowing what to expect, it will help minimize any problems that could otherwise occur.
