  3. Muscles are Striated Myofibril Actin - Gets pulled by the Myosin when the muscle contracts Muscle Fiber Myosin - Pulls on the Actin to contract the muscle

  4. How Nerves Make Muscles Work: • Impulse from brain reaches Motor Nerve • Ca2+ (Calcium) enters the Motor Nerve • Ca2+ causes the Vesicles to move to the Synaptic Cleft • The Vesicles release the hormone acetylcholine (ACh) into the Synaptic Cleft • The ACh moves into the muscle and causes the myosin to contract against the actin

  5. How Do Muscles Contract? Step 2 - ACh enters myofibril and causes myosin head to bind to actin and form a crossbridge Step 1 - Myosin Heads are ready to bind to the actin and contract Myosin Myosin Head Actin Step 4 - ATP is used to release the myosin head and return the myosin head to the ready position Step 3 - Myosin heads pull on actin causing muscle to contract
