  1. Diverticulitis – Symptoms and Causes Over of Diverticulitis Diverticulitis, or diverticulosis, also known as diverticular disease is a condition that causes bulging sacs or small blisters called diverticula in the lining of the large intestine, or colon. It is a disease related to gastroenterology.Technically, formation of these sacs or blisters is called diverticulosis, and when these sacs or blisters get infected and inflamed, it is called diverticulitis. Diverticula are common, especially after the age of 40, and seldom cause problems until they get infected or inflamed. What are Symptoms of Diverticulitis Disease? Diverticulitis has many symptoms, but sudden pain in the lower left side of the abdomen is one of the most common and severe signs of diverticulitis. The pain tends to get worse over a few days. Other common symptoms include: Abdominal pain and tenderness Nausea Vomiting Constipation Fever Gas or bloating Diarrhoea Loss of appetite Rectal bleeding that’s usually bright red If you or your loved ones experience any of the above mentioned symptoms it is advisable to consult a doctor. You can find the best gastroenterologists in Gurgaon and NCR for gastric problem treatment. There are top gastroenterologists in Patna as well, in multi-facility super- speciality hospitals such as Paras Hospitals.

  2. Causes of Colonic Diverticulitis The muscular wall of the colon grows thicker with age, although why does this happen is uncertain. One theory suggests that it is due to the increasing pressure required by the colon to eliminate faeces. A diet low in fibre leads to small, hard stools which are difficult to pass and require increased pressure. Over time, high pressure in the colon pushes the inner intestinal lining outward through weak areas in the muscular walls (herniation). These pouches or sacs are called diverticula. A diet lacking in fibre is blamed largely all over the world for causing diverticulosis. Good sources of fibre include fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and legumes. Fibre is necessary to keep the stool soft and to keep it moving through the digestive tract without added pressure.
