  1. The “Right” Way of Thinking EDIM 510 Felicia DeLosReyes http://flic.kr/p/8jiBWF

  2. http://flic.kr/p/4Z8PFU Left Brain Vs. Right Brain • Analyzes the details • Processes things sequentially • Specializes in text • Replicates • Synthesizes the “big picture” • Processes things simultaneously • Specializes in context • Innovates

  3. So, which one are you? • Take a look at the spinning figure. • If she appears to spin in a clockwise direction, then you mostly use your Right brain. • If she appears to spin in a counterclockwise direction, then you mostly use your Left brain. *Some people can see it moving in both directions! **This “visual test” is in no way an accurate test.

  4. Why Right Brain? • Daniel Pink, author of A Whole New Mind, asks these questions: • Can someone overseas do your job cheaper? • Can a computer do your job faster? If you can answer yes to these questions then learning how to tap into your Right brain is more important than ever. • We are in the Conceptual Age. • Technology is becoming more influential. http://flic.kr/p/4tjTnK

  5. “MFA is the new MBA”-Daniel Pink • Businesses do not need more products, they need new ideas. • Computers are the new workforce. • There is more of a focus on the design and beauty of products and less on the abundance of products. http://flic.kr/p/6jJiAo

  6. Bring ART RIGHT into your classroom • If you are curious to see what side of the brain your students use, have them take this test: http://www.web-us.com/brain/braindominance.htm • Differentiate lessons • Encourage students to use a variety of media to complete projects • Support students’ interest in the trades http://flic.kr/p/NhLhs
